Claerwen Onslow Smith
Claerwen Onslow Smith was born in London in 1988 and educated at Bedales School in Hampshire.  At the Charles H Cecil Studios in Florence she studied painting and drawing solely from life, with natural light using a technique called ‘sight-size’. After two years Claerwen returned to the UK to set up her own studio in Farnham, Dorset. She took on commissions, completed studio portraits and participated in group exhibitions. In October 2010 Claerwen began her third year of study in Florence and expanded into portrait sculpture. Claerwen also attended the Studio della Statua; studio of the Sculptor, Jason Arkles, quickly rising to become his studio assistant and instructing other students in his absence. In July 2012 Claerwen returned to London to set up her own studio. In November 2013 Claerwen was Awarded NADFAS Young Artist of the Year and in the following month held her first solo exhibition in London. She is currently based at the Wimbledon Art Studios in Earlsfield.
